Easy Flaky Parathas

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups (270 grams) All Purpose Flour    
  • ¾ cup (200 ml) Water
  • 1½  tsp Oil
  • ¾ tsp (4 grams) Salt
  • ½ cup (113 grams) Unsalted Butter, melted

Method

  1. In a bowl, add the water and salt.  Stir until the salt has dissolved. 
  2. Add the all purpose flour and using a spatula, begin to combine the flour with the water.   
  3. When it becomes a shaggy dough, go in with your clean hands and bring the dough together. 
  4. Add the oil and knead till it becomes a smooth soft dough.  
  5. Cover with a plastic wrap and keep it aside to rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Generously flour the work surface and place the dough on it.
  7. Divide the dough into eight equal parts.
  8. Take each part and pull the ends into the center now pinch and twist the center and roll the ball on the work surface till it is smooth.  
  9. Place it in a floured plate and continue the process. Cover with a plastic wrap and allow it to rest for 10 minutes.
  10. Generously flour the work surface and sprinkle some flour on the ball of dough and roll out each ball into a large circular disk, about 24”-30” or until it becomes thin.
  11. Spoon on some of the melted butter and brush it over the rolled sheet of dough.
  12. Roll the dough from the end near you, rolling away from you, to form a cylinder.
  13. Gently brush on some butter on the edge and roll the cylinder spirally tucking the end under the bottom to seal.  
  14. Keep it aside and repeat the process till you have rolled all the balls of dough.
  15. Cover once again with a plastic wrap and allow it to rest for 10 minutes.
  16. Lightly roll each spiral dough ring into a circular disk about 12” in diameter.
  17. Place on a heated skillet and cook till it gets a golden brown on both sides.
  18. Brush on some more melted butter and repeat the process till you have cooked all.
  19. Serve warm.
