If you want to make the most irresistible fall dessert, you’ve come to the right place! This heavenly Apple Crisp or Apple Crumble is best enjoyed with a big ol’ scoop of ice cream.
Ingredients
For the Filling
- 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped into small cubes
- 2 tsp Lemon Juice
- 2 tbsp Light Brown Sugar, packed
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
For the Topping
- 3/4 cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
- 3/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Light Brown Sugar, packed
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Baking Powder
- ½ cup Unsalted Butter, cold & cubed small
For greasing the Baking Dish
- 1 tsp Unsalted Butter
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350F/180C.
In a bowl, toss in the chopped apples. Drizzle on the lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon powder. Now give the apples a mix with a spatula so that they get well coated. Keep the bowl aside. - In another bowl. toss together the old fashioned rolled oats, all-purpose flour, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, baking powder and cold butter cubes.
- Using your fingers, gently work in the butter with the rest of the ingredients without melting the butter. Once you have got a chunky crumble texture to the mixture, it’s time to stop.
- Lightly brush an 8”x8” baking dish with some butter.
- Now toss in the apple mixture into the baking dish and then evenly top it with the crumble mixture.
- Place it in the oven and bake for approximately 40-50 minutes or until the apples are cooked, the topping has become golden brown and you see a few bubbles come to the edges of the crumble.
- After taking it out of the oven, allow it to rest for 2 minutes before spooning it into a bowl and topping with ice cream.
