Description

If you want to make the most irresistible fall dessert, you’ve come to the right place! This heavenly Apple Crisp or Apple Crumble is best enjoyed with a big ol’ scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped into small cubes
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Light Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

For the Topping

  • 3/4 cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 3/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Light Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Baking Powder
  • ½  cup Unsalted Butter, cold & cubed small

For greasing the Baking Dish

  • 1 tsp Unsalted Butter

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F/180C.
In a bowl, toss in the chopped apples. Drizzle on the lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon powder. Now give the apples a mix with a spatula so that they get well coated. Keep the bowl aside.
  2. In another bowl. toss together the old fashioned rolled oats, all-purpose flour, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, baking powder and cold butter cubes.
  3. Using your fingers, gently work in the butter with the rest of the ingredients without melting the butter. Once you have got a chunky crumble texture to the mixture, it’s time to stop.
  4. Lightly brush an 8”x8” baking dish with some butter.
  5. Now toss in the apple mixture into the baking dish and then evenly top it with the crumble mixture.
  6. Place it in the oven and bake for approximately 40-50 minutes or until the apples are cooked, the topping has become golden brown and you see a few bubbles come to the edges of the crumble.
  7. After taking it out of the oven, allow it to rest for 2 minutes before spooning it into a bowl and topping with ice cream.
